Superman vs. Lex Luthor. Luke Skywalker vs. Darth Vader. Daniel LaRusso vs. Cobra Kai. These classic heroes face off with their nemeses time and again in the battle of Good vs. Evil. Well perhaps if they’d taken a page out of The Office’s book, they’d all have had a lot more laughs and a lot less time wasted fighting. Which brings us to another classic duo:
Jim Halpert vs. Dwight Schrute.
Jim and Dwight are pitted as foes from The Office’s first episode. Jim, as the quintessential overqualified underachiever, spends an inordinate amount of time planning and executing elaborate pranks on Dwight, who always seems to deserve it due to his latest bout of ridiculousness. Over the years, Jim’s pranks have grown more and more epic. So, without further ado, here are the Top 12 Pranks Jim has played on Dwight, as voted on by YouTourney users.
12. The Exercise Ball
Season 2 Episode 8 – Performance Review
Okay, so maybe it’s not really a prank, but this is still a classic Jim vs. Dwight scene. Dwight spends about a minute expounding on the virtues of his new “Fitness Orb” – which will revolutionize his ab workouts, providing faster reflexes and better sex (Jim: “You’re not having sex”). After learning how wonderfully economical the ball is, Jim takes matters into his own hands. Well, literally, he takes scissors into his hand.
Apparently, the ball was intended to slowly deflate, but instead John Krasinski hit a seam by mistake and the ball pops immediately. Fantastic.
11. Pavlovian Schrute
Season 3 Episode 15 – Phyllis’ Wedding
Jim spends his afternoon conducting an experiment. After each time his computer makes a specific sound, Jim offers Dwight an Altoid mint. Finally, Jim plays the sound without offering, and Dwight inexplicably holds his hand out. Jim: “What are you doing?”
10. Count Halpert
Season 3 Episode 16 – Business School
A bat makes its way into The Office. (Dwight: “If a vampire bat was in the US, it would make sense for it to come to a ‘Sylvania’). Jim proceeds to show all the symptoms of having being bit by the bat… and turning into a vampire. The bat’s bite left no marks; he feels tingly; he can’t stand the light; Angela’s crucifix seems to be blinding him. Too bad there’s not a better clip.

Season 3 Episode 7 – Branch Closing
Even while Jim is away at Stamford, he manages to prank Dwight. Jim manages to secure a supply of Dwight’s letterhead, and proceeds to send him faxes from his future self. Genious.

8. Dwight vs. Mussolini
Season 2 Episode 17 – Dwight’s Speech
When Dwight is named the Northeastern Pennsylvania Salesman of the Year and has to make a speech, Jim gives Dwight some reading material to study up on. The tips are taken from Mussolini – but apparently that works on this crowd.
7. The Magic of Bluetooth
Season 4 Episode 18-19 – Goodbye Toby
Jim hijacks Dwight’s phone with his Bluetooth headset and takes calls as Dwight. Simple yet effective.
6. The Jello Mold
Season 1 Episode 1 – Pilot
Our earliest glimpse into the rivalry between Jim and Dwight. Perhaps Jim’s most classic prank, he “allegedly” put Dwight’s stapler into Jello mold… for the third time. Later, when Jim tries this prank on Andy in Stamford, it doesn’t go over as well. Maybe Dwight is a good sport after all?
